17 Bible Verses to Encourage Dads

June 14, 2018 By Shannon This post may contain affiliate links and this site uses cookies. Click here for details.

Five weeks ago I shared 16 Bible verses to encourage moms. That week we were celebrating and encouraging moms for Mother’s Day. This week we’re celebrating and encouraging dads for Father’s Day, so I’m sharing Bible verses to encourage dads.

These Bible verses, contained in a convenient printable, are an excellent way to encourage the dads in your life!

The words of Scripture are a powerful way to provide encouragement. As you can imagine, the Bible has many encouraging things to say to dads. I’ve listed 17 of these things below. I’ve also placed them in a convenient printable. You can print the verses on regular paper and cut them out yourself or you can print them onto sheets of index cards (Avery 5388) and tear these cards at the perforations so each encouragement is on a 3 x 5 inch card. The cards are in a Microsoft Word template, so you can edit them! Feel free to add personal messages or additional verses.

17 Bible Verses to Encourage Dads - Printable Cards

  • “A righteous man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him.” Proverbs 20:7
  • “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
  • “For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations.” Psalm 100:5
  • “He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom. He will gently lead those who have their young.” Isaiah 40:11
  • “And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8
  • “Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9
  • “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
  • “For you have been my help. I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.” Psalm 63:7
  • “My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26
  • “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
  • “For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7
  • “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
  • “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
  • “For God is not unrighteous, so as to forget your work and the labor of love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the saints, and still do serve them.” Hebrews 6:10
  • “You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4
  • “In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
  • “Or who is there among you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” Matthew 7:9-11

You may notice that I included several of these same verses on the cards for moms. This is because many verses aren’t specific to one gender—they’re encouraging to both moms and dads!

There are several ways that you can use these cards. Here are a few ideas:

  • Tuck a couple in each Father’s Day card you send.
  • Place one or two in dad’s lunchbox each day for the week leading up to Father’s Day.
  • Include one with each gift you give.
  • Use them as place cards around the lunch or dinner table and have each individual read his or her verse aloud to the dads at the table.

What verses would you add? How do you encourage the dads in your life?

That’s a great list, Shannon! I love to add Bible verses in my cards and notes. There is a wonderful sister in the Lord who regularly sends us letters with scripture to encourage us.

This is such a little thing we can do, but it really makes a difference!

Thank you for this great list. These are such precious verses to share with Dads, especially on Father’s Day, but really throughout the year too. Blessings to you!

That’s an important point to make, Bettie! We shouldn’t limit our encouragement to Father’s Day!
