Air Fryer Asparagus

March 23, 2021 By Shannon This post may contain affiliate links and this site uses cookies. Click here for details.

This easy method of cooking asparagus yields perfectly cooked asparagus that is swathed in the flavors of garlic and parmesan cheese.

My air fryer has been one of the best purchases I’ve made for my kitchen. It’s such a useful tool! I use it several times each week to cook meats and various potatoes. I’ve also used it to make pizza and empanadas. Despite the fact that I use it frequently, I haven’t prepared many vegetables in it. However, I recently used it to prepare asparagus. Given how well it cooks the asparagus, I’ll definitely be trying other veggies in it soon!

Ingredients

(Adapted from this recipe.)

  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • Avocado oil spray
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground pepper
  • ¼ cup finely shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.

Spray the bottom of the basket with avocado oil. Place the asparagus in the basket and mist with avocado oil. Sprinkle with the garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Cook about 8-10 minutes or until the asparagus is tender and the outsides are lightly roasted (thick asparagus stalks will take longer to cook than thin ones). Sprinkle with the parmesan cheese and serve once the cheese has melted. Yield: 4 servings.

Notes

Cooking asparagus in the air fryer is similar to roasting it. This way of cooking vegetables really draws the flavor out of them so they taste wonderful. The parmesan cheese adds a little sophistication to the simple flavors of the salt, pepper, and garlic.

We had this alongside some garlic parmesan tilapia one night and alongside some pasta on another night. It was an excellent side for both. It think it would go wonderfully alongside a wide variety of entrees, so hopefully you’ll get a chance to try it soon.

Have you tried any new vegetable recipes recently? I’d love to hear about them!
