We recently drove up to our new house in our new city. When we woke the day after arriving, we were greeted by temperatures in the 50s and movers pulling up to the curb with a truck loaded with nearly all our earthly possessions. I don’t know which I was more excited to see!
Having just come through the hottest summer of my life (nearly 50 days of temps over 100°), I am thrilled to finally have cooler temperatures! Though most of my focus is on getting us moved in so my husband can start his new job (we are—quite literally—up to our ears in boxes), one of the first things I did when we began unpacking was to hang my fall wreath on our front door.
In honor of our cooler temps and my love for fall (it is my favorite season), I am going to share some of my favorite fall foods and activities.
What’s so great about fall?
Why am I so fond of fall? It’s likely because I live in a warm state, so I’m always eager for the temperature to cool. However, there’s more to it than that. Fall ushers in the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, and it is full of many delights of its own. I’ve noted many in this printable about the most wonderful things about autumn.
Fall recipes
Of course, there are many food-related things to love about fall! I’m eager to prepare the following.
- Pecan Pie Brownies
- Perfect Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins
- Snickerdoodle Apple Cobbler
- Butter Pecan Muffins
- Caramel Apple Ice Cream
- Slow Cooker Gingerbread Cake
- Sweet Potato Waffles
- Slow Cooker Cranberry BBQ Pulled Pork
- Sausage and Root Vegetable Sheet Pan Dinner
- Pumpkin Chili
- Air Fryer Parsnips
Pumpkin typically takes center stage during fall, so it can be tough if you’re not a pumpkin fan. Thankfully, there are many fall treats that don’t contain pumpkin.
Fall activities
As we’re eating as many of these foods as I can find time to make, we’ll be completing some fun activities. We’ll complete a fall scavenger hunt and see if any of these fall get together ideas can help us get to know our new neighbors.
As we get into November, we’ll engage in some gratitude activities for families, read children’s books about gratitude, and answer some fun, thought-provoking questions as we sit around the Thanksgiving dinner table.
While doing all these things, we’ll try to remember these simple ways to save money during the fall months.
Final thoughts
We’re so glad the move is behind us (the unpacking isn’t, but that will come in time). The pace of life can slow down a bit so we can enjoy these autumn foods and activities!
What are your favorite things about fall? What foods are you enjoying and what activities are you completing as the temperatures cool?

We are getting there, AnneMarie. We still have some boxes that I haven’t managed to unpack, but we are finally finding a routine and settling in.
