It’s the Little Things About Spring

It’s spring! Warm weather, bright colors, firing up the grill…all around there are little things that gladden my heart and put a smile on my face.

Spring 2013 officially begins today! It’s the little things about spring that gladden my heart and put a smile on my face.

Warmer weather. How pleasant it is to step outside and be comfortable in a light jacket! The need for a coat, gloves, hat, and scarf has passed. I feel like I’ve been freed from bonds that had me constrained all winter.

It’s spring! Warm weather, bright colors, firing up the grill…all around there are little things that gladden my heart and put a smile on my face. Reminders of new life. All around me, that which was dormant is coming alive. Tulips poke through the dirt. Blossoms sprout out of bare branches. Baby birds can be heard chipping. These serve as potent reminders of the new life we experience in ourselves due to salvation in Christ.

Vibrant colors. From yellow daffodils to pink cherry blossoms, the desolate landscape is becoming cheery and radiant.

Firing up the grill. The warmer temperatures mean dinner can be cooked outside on the grill! Grilled chicken and hamburgers are on the menu this spring.

Lower energy bills. There are a few precious weeks in the spring where the temperature is just right—neither the heater, nor the air conditioner is needed. For that month, the electric and gas bills are blessedly low.

What little things are bringing joy to your heart this spring?

I like moving my winter clothes to the back of the closet and my summer clothes to the front. Even though I’ve had most of my clothes for years, it feels like I’m getting a whole new wardrobe!

The clothes do feel somewhat new, don’t they? Thanks for sharing!
