New Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt for Kids

October 26, 2020 By Shannon This post may contain affiliate links and this site uses cookies. Click here for details.

As many of you know, we sold our house and moved into a new place a few weeks ago. We’re in the same city, but we’re across town from our old place. As we were on a walk the other day, I realized that our walks and the times we run errands would be perfect opportunities for my kids to become familiar with our new location.

My kids enjoy scavenger hunts. I’ve made a few of these for them (for autumn, Christmas, and spring). I decided to make one for them that addresses our new neighborhood! We’re taking this with us when we go on walks and when we drive to places like the grocery store and post office so they can become familiar with our new area.

(Click on the image to view and download a larger, printable version of the scavenger hunt.)

This scavenger hunt, which features items such as a post office, playground, and fire station, is a great way for kids to get to know a new neighborhood.

If you’ve recently moved to a new location, then I hope this scavenger hunt helps your kids (and you) get to know your new neighborhood!

What tips can you share for becoming familiar with a new location to which you’ve moved?

Thank you for sharing this! I teach Cultural Orientation to Refugee Foster Care youth, normally teenagers, but we have one young girl who I have been working with one-on-one. This will be very helpful and an engaging way to introduce her to her community. Thanks, again!

      Hi Jessica,
Thanks for letting me know how you are using this. It is an honor to help out in some small way! I hope she gets settled and thrives in her new community!
