September 2020 Dinner Menu

August 27, 2020 By Shannon This post may contain affiliate links and this site uses cookies. Click here for details.

September is nearly here, so it’s time for another menu. This month (just like the rest of the year) has been pretty unpredictable. What we eat over the next few weeks will depend on a couple of things. One is if we get hit by a hurricane. I live on the Texas Gulf Coast, so we are waiting to see where Hurricane Laura will make landfall when it hits. This post will publish about the time of landfall, but as I sit here writing it, we still don’t know where landfall will occur. We’re also in the midst of trying to sell our house. We are supposed to list it early next week. This may or may not happen depending on the storm. If we’re able to list it, then I will be relying on a number of convenience foods because we will be out of the house at various times as potential buyers come and look at it.

What’s for dinner in my house during September 2020? Menu items include Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches, Taco Salad, and Bourbon Chicken.

As each month begins, I plan our menu for the coming weeks (you can see previous menus here). I like this approach because it means I don’t have to menu plan each week and I’m often able to save a little money by making bulk purchases of the foods we’ll use several times.

I only include dinners on our menus because we keep breakfast and lunch pretty simple. For breakfast, we typically eat things like homemade muffins, yogurt with fruit, and oatmeal. For lunch, we typically eat dinner leftovers or easy-to-prepare things like almond butter sandwiches, cheddar broccoli soup, and avocado egg salad.

Here’s our tentative dinner plan for the coming month.

Days 1-7

  • Spaghetti with meat marinara, green beans
  • Salad, breadsticks
  • Chicken sandwiches, carrot sticks
  • Creamy garlic meatballs, broccoli

What dinners will you be eating this month?

The storm went east of us, so we are fine. We’re just doing what we can to help those to the east because they’ve had a rough time of it.
      Thanks for hosting!
