August was a bit of a whirlwind for us. We started school midway through the month. Getting back to the school routine is always a little challenging, but it has gone smoothly. My parents spent two weeks with us last month, so perhaps their presence was a buffer of sorts from the disappointment of summer break being over! This past weekend my sister-in-law came for a visit. The visit was brief, but my girls loved getting to see and play with her for a couple of days.

We’ve had unseasonably cool temperatures the last few days. This was such an appreciated break from the high heat! Our summer temps are far from over (we’re back in the upper 90s), but it was wonderful to have a few days of respite. Despite the lingering warm weather, I’m ready to begin transitioning to fall favorites like soups and casseroles. We’ll be busy this month with school, routine medical/dental appointments, and two birthdays. Much to my kids’ excitement, their homeschool group also resumes this month.
