Storage Solutions for Kids’ Puzzles

February 7, 2019 By Shannon This post may contain affiliate links and this site uses cookies. Click here for details.

We have about 20 kids’ puzzles stacked on a bookshelf in our living room. They all fit there, but they’re a bit of an eyesore and it is difficult to access the one our kids ask for because inevitably that particular one is at the bottom of the stack!

Kids’ puzzles are difficult to store. They’re hard to access when stacked and pieces can end up all over. Here are some ideas for effective storage.

As you can see, we need to find a better way to store these puzzles. This is challenging because the puzzles are a variety of different shapes and sizes. Moreover, a lot of the puzzles consist of trays into which pieces fit, so these can’t be stored vertically because the pieces will fall out. I’ve begun searching for storage ideas. Here’s what I’ve found.

I’ve also found some storage units available for purchase. I lean towards the DIY sort of options shown above because they tend to be affordable, but there are some great storage units available for a variety of prices.

Now that I’ve seen these ideas, I need to figure out what will work for our puzzles in the space we have available.

I’d love to hear your ideas! How do you store kids’ puzzles in your home?

What great suggestions! My kids are now grown, but I kept the best puzzles for future grandkids. And now I have a granddaughter. So I would love to get my puzzles better organized for when she’s ready for them. I may try the document folders first.

I really like that idea, Lisa. It would help keep the pieces in place, which is great because it’s a bummer when a piece goes missing!

These are some really great ideas! We used to store larger floor puzzles in Ziploc bags in bins and we bought a storage cube for the wooden ones but I just love some of these more frugal ideas. Thanks so much for sharing with us at Encouraging Hearts and Home. Pinned.
