What’s for dinner in my house during March 2020? Menu items include Southwest Cheesy Chicken Sandwiches, Burrito Bowls, and Sloppy Joe Pasta.

The temperatures are definitely warming up around here. We’ve had a very mild winter, so I’m not sure I’m ready for spring and summer! Nevertheless, the calendar is about to change to March and later this month we’ll begin spring. It’s time for a new menu! At the start of each month I plan our dinner menu for the coming weeks (click … [Read more...] about March 2020 Dinner Menu

I can’t believe we’re already a month into the New Year! I hope you are fully recovered from the holidays. What’s for dinner in my house during December 2019? Menu items include Meatloaf Parmesan, Chicken Pot Pie, and Tuscan Tortellini Skillet.

I know we are still in the month of November, but things get so busy after Thanksgiving that I’m trying to get my dinner menu for December ready to go. What’s for dinner in my house during November 2019? Menu items include Philly Cheesesteak Casserole, Minestrone Soup, and King Ranch Chicken.

It feels like October sped by so quickly! It’s almost November, which means we need a new dinner menu. I’ve been planning a new menu at the start of each month (you can see past menus here). Having an entire month of dinners planned is useful because it saves time (I don’t have to spend time planning meals each week) and it saves money … [Read more...] about November 2019 Dinner Menu

What to Do When Your Spouse is a Picky Eater

October 24, 2019 By Shannon This post may contain affiliate links and this site uses cookies. Click here for details.

It’s frustrating when your spouse will only eat a few foods. Here are some gentle ways to encourage him to eat a wider variety of foods.

I love experimenting with recipes and trying new foods, but my husband doesn’t. He likes a few foods, and he’d be content eating these same foods over and over again. For example, as far as veggies are concerned, he likes corn. He’ll tolerate green beans. That’s it. He doesn’t like carrots or peas. He won’t touch cauliflower or sweet potato. … [Read more...] about What to Do When Your Spouse is a Picky Eater

What’s for dinner in my house during October 2019? Menu items include skillet shepherd’s pie, cider-glazed chicken, and meatloaf with mashed potatoes.

It’s been a while since I shared a menu on Of The Hearth. I used to plan a month’s worth of meals each season (fall, winter, spring, and summer) and we’d use each of these menus for three consecutive months before moving on to a new menu (you can read details on how I did this here and see many of the menus here). I stopped using that … [Read more...] about October 2019 Dinner Menu

Breakfast foods are a great way to start and end the day. Consider these five reasons to eat breakfast for dinner.

Fluffy pancakes drizzled with warm maple syrup. Buttery toast. Crispy hash browns. An omelet overflowing with melted cheese and savory sausage. I feel hungry just thinking about these foods! Breakfast has long been my favorite meal of the day. Of course, I’m not talking about the cold cereal that many folks eat for breakfast; I’m … [Read more...] about 5 Reasons to Have Breakfast for Dinner
