Given the unexpected and challenging things we are facing this year, I have even greater appreciation for how the change in seasons provides stability. We’re still about a week from the official start of summer, but I’m thinking about it today.
In many ways, summer can be miserable around here. I live on the Texas Gulf Coast, so our summers are full of heat, humidity, bugs, and the threat of hurricanes. Nevertheless, there are many special and enjoyable things about summer.
The best things about summer
- Eating watermelon
- Going barefoot
- Having picnics
- Visiting with neighbors while sitting on the front porch
- Eating ice cream
- Wearing sandals
- Going swimming
- Celebrating Independence Day
- Wearing sundresses
- Having barbeques
- Seeing flowers in bloom
- Eating popsicles
- Going camping
- Watching fireworks
- Taking a vacation
- Picking fresh produce
- Going to garage sales
- Having water balloon fights
- Going to the beach
- Napping in a hammock
Do you enjoy summer? If so, what are your favorite things about it? What unique things do you do to celebrate the season?

Oh I do just love summer! The longer, lighter days, the time spent outside, warm weather & sunshine, lazy laid back schedules, and yummy foods. Thanks for sharing with us at Encouraging Hearts and Home. Pinned.
