Worship Music Playlist for Labor and Delivery

This is a post that I intended to share after I gave birth to my third child back in September. I didn’t get around to it right away, and then I hesitated to share it because the delivery didn’t go as planned. Of course, it’s not the playlist’s fault that I ended up needing an emergency C-section, so I decided to go ahead and share it now.

Music can be a source of encouragement during labor and while recovering from childbirth. Here are some wonderful worship songs for a labor playlist.

I did enjoy listening to this while in labor. It helped me relax and cope with contractions during several hours of labor. It was just as helpful (possibly even more so) as I recovered. I was in the hospital for several days because, in addition to the complications during labor, I developed postpartum preeclampsia. I found the lyrics of these songs to be a balm to my heart, which felt as weary and battered as my body. Interestingly, I’ve been listening to this playlist recently. A few weeks ago, my older girls asked to listen to music while they took their bath. I played part of this playlist for them. I enjoyed it so much that I listened to some of it later that day when I was cleaning. It has a lot of mellow songs with lyrics that remind me that God is with me and that He gives me the strength I need to accomplish the tasks before me.

Did you listen to (or do you plan to listen to) music while in labor? What songs did you (or will you) include on your playlist?
