September 2026 Dinner Menu

September 2, 2026 By Shannon Leave a Comment This post may contain affiliate links and this site uses cookies. Click here for details.

We spent most of August indoors to avoid the triple-digit heat outdoors. Our weather has been incredibly dry, making it difficult to keep the outdoor plants healthy. Our only rain came with a downburst that we experienced last week. We had sudden, unexpected 70 mph winds, hail, and rain. We had some minor damage, but many families in our neighborhood sustained significant tree damage. We resumed school the second week of the month. It has gone well, though my kids have already asked when our first break will be! A highlight for us has been an art history class we’re completing. It has a studio art component, and we’ve really had fun with the projects.

What’s for dinner in my house during September 2026? Meals include Turkey and Wild Rice Soup, Baked Ziti, and Creamy Garlic Meatballs.

We hope to get a break from the heat as we get into fall. It will likely be another 45 days or so before we get cool weather, but anything below 100 would be appreciated at this point! Despite the ongoing warmth, we will put our fall wreath on the door and start enjoying fall flavors (like these apple cider cookies). We’ll keep busy this month with school and routine doctor and orthodontist appointments. My kids’ homeschool group resumes, as well, which they are excited about. Here are the meals we plan to eat while we do all this (you can see past menus here).
